Lag BaOmer (the 33rd day in the counting of the Omer) is a day of light and happiness. It is the Yartzeit (anniversary of passing) of the Rashbi, Kabbalist Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai who requested that it be a day of rejoicing. We celebrate with bonfires, BBQs, and live music. As Shavuot nears we focus on introspection and becoming better people. It is the day we received the Torah at Mt. Sinai and became a nation, and each year we renew this Covenant with G-d. May we merit to finally serve Hashem (G-d) with no hindrances and greet King Moshiach immediately in our days!
